Nostalgic Open House - East Elementary

Nostalgic Open House - East Elementary

East Elementary hosted an open house for all past and present students and staff. Dozens of former teachers and employees returned, while more than a hundred students came back to reminisce, visit, share photos and see old friends. Current students and staff will be making the transition to a new replacement building, Legacy Elementary, around February. Take a look at a few photos from the event.

Engaging Community with P.I.E.

Engaging Community with P.I.E.

Engaging Community with P.I.E.

Once a month Hurricane Elementary provides parents with a behind the scenes look at the school and the programs their children participate in. They call it Parents In Education or P.I.E. Parents have the opportunity to have a close up look at the dual-immersion Spanish program, STEM, pre-kindergarten, and Lego League. As the morning comes to an end, notes are reviewed and additional questions asked, the school serves pie (and sometimes cheesecake) to the parents who attend their P.I.E. day. Check out more photos on Facebook.

The students and community at Dixie Sun Elementary were able to travel to six different countries without even leaving their school. It was part of the fun and food of the inaugural Hispanic Culture Night at the school. The evening included singing, dancing, food, arts, crafts and games…did we mention food?! It was a great night and well supported by the community. Check out more photos on our Facebook page.

Tall Cop Says Stop - October 17

Tall Cop Says Stop - October 17

This workshop is for educators, prevention providers, coalition members, law enforcement, probation officers, school administration, treatment, counselors, and parents. This session is unique, in that it provides over 120 visual aids for attendees to hold and become familiar with. In today's culture everything is person-specific and has different meanings to different individuals. For each person to help prevent youth and adult substance abuse, you MUST know what is going on in your community. These new trends are very popular and it is important for all who are involved in prevention, education, treatment or enforcement to understand these sweeping changes in the drug culture.

Kindergarteners Growing More than Their Futures

Crimson View Elementary

Kindergarteners Growing More than Their Futures

While most farmers are preparing for harvest season, these kindergarten students at Crimson View Elementary are just planting their carrot crops. They are getting ready for their Thanksgiving feast, featuring crops grown by the students in their school. As part of the STEM initiative at Crimson View, the students have a greenhouse featuring opportunities for every grade to grow both traditional and hydroponic plants. They even have live fish helping to fertilize the water along with geothermal and solar energy to maintain the necessary environment for the sprouts. Check out a photo gallery on our Facebook page.
