Open Enrollment

OPEN ENROLLMENT OPTION

The Open Enrollment Option provides for an early and a late enrollment period during which a student may apply for enrollment in a school that is not the student's school of residence. Applications may be submitted for the next school year during two enrollment periods:

Early Open Enrollment Period (December to February)

Applications may be submitted to the school of choice from December 1st through the 3rd Friday in February.

Late Open Enrollment Period (February to August)

Applications may be submitted to the school of choice after the 3rd Friday in February through the Friday before school begins in the fall.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applications are available at the student's current school and returned to the school that is being requested. The requested school collects the non-refundable $5.00 application fee.

LEGISLATION

Schools that are designated for Early Open Enrollment are chosen based on the formulas specified in House Bill 349. (building capacity, enrollment threshold greater than 90% or 40 less than capacity, projected enrollment, etc.)
Late Open Enrollment designatations are based on district-wide average class size as per House Bill 349.
