ACLU Youth Activist Scholarship (update 1/2012)
The ACLU of Utah is awarding three $1,000 scholarship to eligible high school seniors. In addition, the winners of our local scholarship awards will be eligible for consideration for a national ACLU scholarship worth $7,000 (fifteen such scholarships will be awarded to students nationwide). To qualify for the scholarship, students must demonstrate a strong commitment to civil liberties through some form of activism, be a high school senior planning on entering an accredited college or university as a full-time degree-seeking student, have attained a minimum cumlative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Students will be judged by the following standards: Strength and depth of contributions to civil liberties, demonstrated leadership, the likelihood that the applicant will continue that commitment to civil liberties in the future, commitment to academic excellence and demonstrated financial need.

Congress-Bundestag Vocational Youth Exchange Program - Nacel Open Door (update 1/2012)
- Be at least 18 and no more than 19 years of age by July 1 of the departure year.
- Graduating seniors must complete U.S. school studies in January or June prior to departure.
- Academic achievements must show a 3.0 GPA.
- U.S. Citizenship
- Ability to serve as an ambassador of your country - the USA!
- Previous study of German is advantageous but is not a prerequisite for scholarship selection.
Elks National Foundation Scholarships
Utah Elks Association Scholarship (update 1/2012)
Students eligible for this scholarship are those academic students who apply for the MVS scholarships and make it through the scoring process to State level but do not advance to the National level. Two scholarships are available through the Dixie Elks Lodge and sponsored by the Utah Education Association (UEA).

Dixie Escalante Electric Scholarship
This scholarship is offered to high school seniors who belong to the family of members/consumers of Dixie Escalante Electric. The following documentation is required: 1)Cover sheet including photo, name, parent's name, address, phone number, current high school. 2) Two letters of recommendation 3) High school transcript. 4) Autobiography, (typewritten) which includes: activity participation, volunteer service and goals. 5) Submit an essay entitled: "What are Cooperatives and What Are the Advantages of Being a Member of Dixie Escalante Electric Cooperative?" Gates Millennium Scholars Program (GMS)
These scholarship is a renewable, need-based, merit scholarship and is available for students who have significant financial need and have demonstrated leadership skills. Ethnicity requirements are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Pacific Islander, Hispanic American.
- Students must be a citizen/legal permanent resident
- GPA of 3.3 or above and will be enrolling for the first-time at a US accredited college or university full time in the fall of 2009.
- Students must meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria.

John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest
The Profile in Courage Essay Contest provides students an exciting opportunity to develop research, writing, and critical thinking skills as they explore the concept of political courage. They are asked to identify an act of policital courage, locate reliable and varied source material, and synthesize this information into a compelling essay. The contest meets national standards in social studies and language arts. Students must write an original and creative essay of 1,000 words or less that demonstrates an understanding of the political courage as described in John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage, describe and analyze an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1956 and reference at least five varied sources. Students are nomated by a teacher. First place winner receives $5,000 cash award - Second place $1,000 - Third place $500.

McKelvey Foundation Entreprenaurial Scholarship
Award up to $10,000 per academic year for 4 years to any US college- Available for high school seniors who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating their own business while in high school. Pastor France A. Davis Scholship
The Pastor France A. Davis Scholarship seeks to identify students committed to making a significant contribution to their communities; who demonstrate leadership potential, and who are prepared to excel academically. Most important, it seeks to reduce the financial barriers for a) African American students; b) students who have one or more parents of African descent; c) students who have a demonstrated interest and involvement in issues specifically pertaining to the African American community. The recipeient must be eligibile to attend or be enrolled at a higher education institution in Utah, GPA of no less than 2.5 and must maintain a 2.5 cumulative average for each semester the scholarship is awarded, must enroll in and successfully complete a minimum of 12 credit hours fall and spring semesters respectively, provide an autobiography on academic and professional goals, influences that have motivated them academically and assisted in the development of the values deemed important in their life, how career goals contribute to the advancement of the African American community, a list of past and current community activities, three letters of recommendation from educators, employers, counselors, business professionals or community leaders. National Football Foundation Scholarship Awards
Selected student athletes are among the finest senior high school young men in Utah. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society Scholarship Program
This scholarship is available for high school students who have multiple sclerosis, or anyone who is the child of someone with multiple sclerosis, who will be attending an accredited post secondary school for the first time. The scholarship amounts range from $1,000 to $3,000. The applicants will be reviewed by a national selection committee.

Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC)
Full tuition and other financial benefits worth up to $180,000. ACT Scores: Math=21, English=22. SAT Scores: Math=520 Verbal=530. Students may apply for the NAVY or the NURSE CORPS (must major in a nursing degree program leading to a BSN). Requirements: U.S. Citizen, age 17 and not older than 23 by June 30th. Students must take the normal course load requred for the degree and enroll in two Naval Science Courses per year. For the NAVY requirements, students must complete the following courses: Calculus, Physics, Computer Science (1 term), National Security Policy/U.S. Miliatry Affairs, English Grammar and Composition. Military service requirements: No obligation for the first year of college. Upon completion of degree, receive commission as Ensign in the Navy Reserve and four year activie duty obligation.
The New Century Scholarship Program

Students must complete the requirements of an associate's degree or the approved math and science curriculum at a Utah System of High Education Institution with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA by September 1st of the year their class graduates from a Utah high school. Any senior pursuing an Associate Degree while in high school and who will graduate with their class may be eligible to apply for this scholarship. Step 1: These students must submit their application on or before (postmarked) The first week of January Step 2: Students must achieve the requirements for an Associate Degree before September 1st and provide documentation verifying his/her eligibility for the scholarship before The second week in October. Regents' Scholarship sponsored by the Utah State Legislature
Please Note: Award amounts are determined on an annual basis and are subject to Legislative funding and number of qualified participants. Therefore, award amounts may be reduced, may vary from year to year, and are dependent on when the recipient is enrolled in college. Students are required to prepare for college academically and financially by taking a defined core course of study and saving for college. Required courses are 4 years of English, 4 years of math, 3.5 years of social science, 3 years of science and 2 years of foreign language courses all taken during grades 9-12. A 3.0 cumulative GPA and individual core course grade lower than a "C" may be eligibile for the $1000 base award. Students earning 3.5 cumulative GPA and no individual core course grade lower than a "B" may be eligible for the exemplary academic achievement award which is worth up to 75% of tuition for two years. A supplemental award of up to $100 per year for students who have contibuted to their Utah Education Savings Plan account between the ages of 14-17 for a maximum supplemental award of $400. University of Utah Chicana/o Scholarship Fund (update 1/2012)
This scholarship is exclusively offered to high school seniors admitted to the University of Utah from any high school and/or community college in the state of Utah. These scholarships will be awarded to students of diversity who promote the cultural pride and tradition of the Chicana/o-Latina/o community. This scholarship fund recognizes and assists students in their undergraduate education. The selection process evaluates each applicant on the basis of family background, life challenges, scholarstic effort, involvement in the community, and finanacial need. Four scholarships in the amount of $2500 each will be awarded.
Applications are due before the last week of January.
Washington Crossing Foundation
This is for students who are planning careers in government service. Each interested student is invited to write a one-page essay stating why he or she plans a career in government service including any inspiration to be derived from the leadership of George Washington in his famous crossing of the Delaware. The student must confine the essay to viewpoint, attitude and purpose in choice of career. The essay must be accompanied by a recommendation from the high school principal or guidance counselor evaluating the student's achievements, academic and otherwise - particularly any preparation relevant to his or her career choice - along with transcripts, national testing scores and other supporting information of the applicant's choice as described in the Official Rules. The Washington Crossing Foundation is pleased to offer a variety of national and regional college scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000. Students planning to attend one of the Military Academies or who have been awarded full four-year scholarship will be eligible for a one-year award with proof of valid educational expenses. Students do not apply for specific scholarship; an application is automatically considered in each category for which it qualifies.
