Best Buy Scholarship Program (update 1/2012)

This scholarship is offered to students in the 9-12 Grade. 1,200 scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded. Students need to have solid grades and be involved in volunteer community service or document work experience.

Buick Achievers Scholarship Program (update Jan2012)

The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is looking to celebrate student achievers who are not only dedicated inside the classtroom, but also committed to making a positive impact in their communities.   The opportunity is for high school seniors who plan to enroll full-time at a four-year college or university in the fall and plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business with an interest in the automotive industry.   Student must be U.S. citizens and have permanent residence in the United States.  Relatives of General Motors employees are eligible.  Students must display academic achievement, financial need, leadership and service participation or show documentation of first-generation college, female, minority, military veteran or a dependent of military personnel.  The majority of the scholarships will be awarded to students majoring in Engineering/Technology fields.  Recipients will be awarde one scholarship at either of the two award levels: 1,000 Buick Achievers Scholarships of $2,000 (one-time awards) or 100 Buick Achievers National Scholarhsip of up to $25,000 per year, renewable for up to four years and one additional year for those entering a five-year engineering program.

  Burger King Scholars (BKS) Program

Scholars awards are $1000 each and may be used for educational expenses, such as tuition fees and books, during the first year of college or post-secondary vocational/technical school. For a student to qualify, he/she must be a high school senior and a U.S. resident that meets the BKS criteria. Applicants must be high school seniors graduating from high schoolr or from a home school education, who maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent, work part-time an average of 15 hours per week, demonstrate participation in community service activities, demonstrate financial need, plan to enroll in an accredited two-year or four-year college, univeristy or vocationa/technical school by the fall term of the high school graduating year, and be a U.S. or Canada resident.

Cancer Survivor College Scholarship Program

American Cancer Society- This scholarship provides funding each academic year in increments of $2,500 per student for young cancer survivors to pursue their post-secondary education from an accredited university, community college, or vocational technical school. Scholarship criteria includes: Must be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21 and must be age 25 or younger at the time of application,; Scheduled to graduate from high school in the upcoming school year; Must be a US citizen and a resident of Utah; Must have a 2.5 GPA or above; Must be accepted and become a full-time student at the above mentioned college or university.

  • Willy the Plumber Scholarship:  To further the education or training of students whose parents or guardians have been or are incarcerated.  Available to enable the children of inmates in the Utah's correctional facilities to pursue a higher education.   Applicants must be a resident of the State of Utah, be graduating from or have graduated from a Utah high school with a GPA of 2.0 or above.  (Preference is given to students with a 3.0 GPA or higher).  Students must demonstrate financial need and be admitted or attending a two or four-year accredited college, university or vocational/technical school.

  • Equality Leadership Fund Scholarship:  The purpose of the Equality Leadership Fund scholarship program is to further the education or training of a student who has demonstrated leadership in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) rights movement.  To qualify for this fund, a student must be a resident of the state of Utah, be graduating from or have graduated from a Utah high School with a GPA of 3.0 and above, be admitted or attending a two or four-year accredited college, university or vocational/technical school in the state of Utah, show leadership to the cause of rights and recognition for LGBTQ people, and demonstrate financial need.

CO-OP Scholarship Program

These merit co-op scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors and community college transfer students who plan to participate in college cooperative education at one of the following NCCE (national Commission for Cooperative Education) Partner Colleges and Universities: Drexel University; Johnson & Wales University; Kettering University; C.W. Poist Campus of Long Island University; Northeastern University; pace University; Rochester Institute of Technology; University of Cincinnati; University of Toledo; Wentworth Institute of Technology. the National Commission encourages minority and female students as well as students interested in Science-Math-Engineering-Technology (SMET) to apply for a merit co-op scholarship.

Dr. Seuss's Oh, The Places You'll Go! College Scholarship Program

Applicants must be 12th grade high school students graduating spring of 2010, age 21 years or younger. Compositions are judged by technical merit. Writing should show a strong, clear voice by authors who are original, creative, and draw clear connections back to Dr. Seuss's Oh, the Places You'll Go! Compositions should answer the question fully and should be original works, no plagiarism, no copyright infringement. First place winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship paid directly to a post-secondary institution.

ESSAY QUESTION: Dr. Seuss's Oh, the Places You'll Go! delivers an important message about the chances and the troubles that life presents. Thinking about the book, Oh, The Places You'll go!, what kinds of opportunities and challenges do you think your education will present in the future?

 ESMART SUMMER CAMP FOR 7TH GRADE GIRLS SPONSORED BY THE AAUW (Updated 12/2013)

THE LEGACY AWARDS

This scholarship is awarded to any child or grandchild of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2008 or a charter member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2008. The Elk must also be a paid-up memember. Great grandchildren are not eligible. Legacy awards are $4000 scholarship ($1,000 per year for four years. The foundation will offer a total of up to 250 awards.

George H. Hansen Fellowship at BYU (update 1/2012)

This fellowship in the amount of $500-$1000 is to be awarded to outstanding high school seniors who desire to become geologist, environmental geologists, geological engineers, or earth and space science teachers. Student muct be a graduating high school senior, must enroll as a geology, environmental geology, earth and speca education, or engineering geology major, must continue in one of these majors according to a progressive program, must maintain at least a 3.3 GPA; must abide by all BYU standards of conduct. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from teachers concerning academic qualifications, submit a letter stating desire to pursue a geology career and why he/she believes he/she qualifies for the fellowship, submit a copy of high school transcripts.

This is a student organization built with the intent to help potential students to become DSC students. Characteristics we look for in potential Ambassadors are fun, out-going personalities with great communication skills. KFC Colonel's Scholars is looking for high school seniors with financial need and an entrepreneurial spirit to qualify for the KFC Colonel's Scholars Program.  Awards are up to $20,000 for tuition, fees, textbooks, room and board.  To qualify, graduating high school seniors must:

Southern Utah Science and Engineering Fair (SUSEF) (updated October 2012)

It is the goal of the Southern Utah Science and Engineering committee to provide a venue where students can present a project and share the lessons they have learned in their classrooms, combined with their own interests and discoveries. Student in grades 5-12 are eligible to participate in the SUSEF Senior Fair. Students may have an opportunity to win prize money and scholarships.  Students may compete as individuals or in teams with a maximum of three members.  "When brought to completion, the science project is an amalgamation of reading, writing, spelling, grammar, math, statistics, ethics, logic, critical thinking, computer science, graphic arts, scientific methodology, self-learning of one or more technical or specialty fields and (if the project qualifies for formal competition) public speaking and defense in front of expert judges." - Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair.

Utah NAME Scholarship - Students grades 8-12 (update 1/2012)

This scholarship opportunity is sponsored by the Utah Chapter of the National Association for Multicultural Education.  Students tell their own story in narratives of bravery & hope: ordinary people united for extraordinary change.  A total of six (6) scholarships will be awarded for students to use toward education after high school:  Two (2) scholarships for middle school age students of $500 each; four (4) for high school age students of $1,000 each.   Students write stories about how they will leave their mark - How they will unite with others to create important change in their communities.  Written stories should be a maximum of 500 words and can be written in the language of choice.

YES Abroad Program

This scholarship is sponsored by the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Educational And Cultural Affairs. This scholarship can provide full scholarships for American teens to live and study in YES partner countries for one academic year. Five scholarship will be awards in each of these YES partner countries: Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Applying students must be between 15-18 years old and have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. There are no language requirements attached to this scholarship.

Young Network Professionals Scholarship (update 1/2012

Novell and the Utah State Office of Education are pleased to present the annual Young Network Professionals (YNP) Scholarship Awards.  This award honors high school seniors who have demonstrated high-tech experience and leadership abilities in their schools and communities.  One grand-prize winner will receive a $3.000 scholarship, while additional winners will receive scholarships up to $2,000.  Winners are selected by the YNP Scholarship Committee. which consists of representatives from the Utah State Office of Education (USOE) and Novell.  All applicants must be high school seniors who have taken, or are currently taking, the Novell CNA or SUSE LINUX Fundamentals course and who have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.  To apply, student are required to submit:  YNP cover letter with student photo; two teacher recommendations; student resume; academic transcript; essay of 1,000 words or less, copy of Novell CNA, Novell LINUS certification or CompTIA LINUX + certification or score report; signed media release form.
