AXA Achievement Scholarship

AXA Foundation in association with U.S. News & World Report presents the AXA Achievement Scholarship for students who set and reach ambitious goals, demonstrate drive, determination and ability to succeed in college and who have respect for self, family and community. Awards include $10,000 scholarship to 52 students (one in each state, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico). $15,000 additional scholarship for 10 national recipients chosen from the poll of 52 state winners. The national scholarship winners will also be offered internships at AXA offices.

The deadline to submit an application is before the 1st of December.

The purpose of The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program "A Constitutional Speech Contest" is to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States on the part of high school students.  Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak clearly and intelligently, and the preparation for acceptance of the duties and responsibilities, the right and privileges of American citizenship.  Three finalists will be chosen:  1st Place - $18,000; 2nd Place - $16,000;p 3rd Place - $14,000.  Each state winner who is certified into and participates in the first round of the national contest will receive a $1,500 scholarship.  The contestand must give both their prepared oration and the assigned topic discourse in order to receive the scholarship.  In addition to the scholarship awarded by the national organization, there are several hundred scholarship awarded at the discretion of the intermediate organization, to participants at post, district or country and department levels of competition.

Developed to provide a deeper knowledge and appreciation for the Constitution of the United States. One Junior or Senior student from each high schol will be selected. The length of the speech must be 5 to 8 minutes and must be memorized. State winners who is certified into and participates in the first round of the National Contest will receive a $1,500. 00 Scholarship. National Contest Winners will earn $18,000 for first place, $16,000 for second place and $14,000 for 3rd Place. The scholarship awarded by the National Organization of The American Legion may be used to attend any college or university in the United States.

Boston Univeristy Scholarships

The most prestigious merit scholarships are the Trustee, Dr. Martin Lutehr King, Jr., Alexander Graham Bell Scholarship and Education Presidential Scholarships. They are four-year, full-tuition scholarships awarded to students with the most noteworthy academic accomplishments, who have graduated at the top of their classes and who have demonstrated outstanding leadership ability.

Most Valuable Student Scholarship (MVS)

Sponsored by the Elks National Foundation:

Most Valuable Students are at or near the top of their class; active in school and community activities; recognized as leaders by their peers; and need financial assistance to attend college. An high school senior who is a U.S. citizen may apply. The scholarships range from two (2) $60,000 to four hundred eighty two (482) $4,000 scholarships. Requirements include GPA with Transcript/Counselor Report - signed; ACT or SAT scores; Financial Need Statement/Parent Statement - signed; Leadership Activities for four years; Community Services for four years; Essay Dated and Sgined; Brochure Complete in Order.

Note: SAT and ACT have to be prior to the 2nd week in October

Utah Elks Association Scholarship (updated 1/2012)

Students eligible for this scholarship are those academic students who apply for the MVS scholarships and make it through the scoring process to State level but do not advance to the National level. The applicant must be an American citizen and a high school senior to be considered.  Two scholarships are available through the Dixie Elks Lodge and sponsored by the Utah Education Association (UEA). All applications must be submitted to the local Elks Lodge by the application date.  No Exceptions.

UEA Vocational Scholarships

These scholarships are offered to students statewide who are in alternative education schools or who are pursuing vocational schools after highscool. The Dixie Lodge is guarenteed at least two scholarships from the UEA.


 

Dixie Elks Lodge Scholarship for a Millcreek Alternative High School Student

This is a one full year in-sate tuition at Dixie College.

Cliff Jones Memorial Bowling Scholarship $1000

This is for a high school student who is on a bowling league, member of the USBC or YABA or a parent/grandparent is on a league. Ask for Evelyn Jones at the Dixie Elks Lodge. Scholarship based on Bowling affiliation and interest, education experience, achievements, high school grade point, ACT and/or SAT test score, goals, objective, leadership, extra-curricular work, volunteerism, character and financial need.

Dixie Elks Lodge Golf Scholarship $1000

This is for a high school student who is involved with a golf program and plans to attend Dixie College. There is no age or gender restrictions. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to Dixie State College. The recipient must maintain a 2.5 GPA or better to qualify for the seond year. The criteria for earning the scholarship is education experience, achievements, high school grade point, ACT and/or SAT test score, goals, objectives, leadership, extra-curricular work, volunteerism, character, financial need, golf affiliation and interest.

KFC Colonel's Scholars

Students must be graduating from high school this academic year - maintain a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher, plan to enroll in a public, in-state college or university (start date no later than September 30th), plan to pursue a bachelor's degree and be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident and demostrate financial need.

Lynn Jensen Memorial Scholarship

$500 Scholarship for high school seniors who plan to become a school counselor or public education teacher for Grades K-12. Requirements include a high school transcript, SAT or ACT scores, student achievement form, two letters of recommendation, essay about a school counselor, a photograph, release.

NFIB -YEF Young Entrepreneur Foundation

This $1000 scholarship is for a high school senior who demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit and initiative through examples such as: starting his/her own business; participating in organizations such as DECA, Junior Achievement, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Future Farmers of America (FFA), National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), among others; or through other initiatives.

Sterling Scholar - Opportunities for recipients

To be selected as a Sterling Scholar nominee, public high school seniors must have extraordinary scholarship scores as well as service in leadership and community service/citizenship opportunities at their Utah public high school. The program is designed to recognize scholastic achievement in Utah public high schools. Students in the Washington County School District will work with the designated Sterling Scholar Coordinator to participate in the the application process.

University of Utah Top Ten Percent Scholarship

At the end of the student's junior year, the high school counselor will provide a list to the University of Utah of students who will be graduating in the top ten percent of their high school class. Eligible students will receive a $1,000 tuition waiver during their first year at the University of Utah ($500 each for fall and spring semesters). Upon maintaining a 3.2 GPA or higher and completing 24 hours of coursework during their first year, these students will be awarded an addition $750 ($375 per semester) tuition waiver for the second year of attendance. In order to be eligible, the student must be a U.S. citizen and resident of the State of Utah and enrolled at the University of Utah for the fall semester. International, foreign exchange, non-citizen or students attending a non-accredited high school are not eligible for this award. Student must also submit an application for admission, transcripts, test scores and $45 application fee.
