Travis Wilstead selected as Principal of the new Majestic Fields Elementary

Travis Wilstead has been chosen as the principal for the new Majestic Fields Elementary School opening fall of 2017.

Travis graduated from SUU and began his teaching career in Las Vegas. He taught 3rd grade, was a Literacy Strategist/Grant Coordinator/Technology Specialist and a 1stgrade teacher. Eventually, Travis and his family were able to move back to southern Utah where he taught 5th grade and was a Staff Developer at Santa Clara Elementary school. During this time, he went on to earn a M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix and a M.A. in Education Administration from UNLV. In 2008 Travis became the principal at Hurricane Elementary.

While at Hurricane Elementary Travis helped the school become one of the top performing schools in the state earning an A on the state’s school grading scale in 2013, was named a Title I Reward School in 2015 and is the only elementary school in the state that transitioned from a traditional elementary school to a Gold Level STEM school. Travis has also earned an award as the Instructional Leader of the Year for the state of Utah and Educator of the year from the Hurricane Chamber of Commerce.

Travis has loved his experiences in education and it is with a heavy heart that he leaves Hurricane Elementary, however he is excited for the new experiences he will have at Majestic Fields Elementary.
