Bob Sonju, principal of Washington Fields Intermediate has announced his retirement. On Wednesday, July 20, the Board of Education approved the transfer of Brad Christensen from Hurricane Intermediate to Washington Fields Intermediate. Brad has more than 30 years of educational experience, including nine years as assistant principal where he was recognized as the Assistant Principal of the Year for the State of Utah and 16 years as principal of Hurricane Intermediate. Brad is excited to join the amazing faculty at Washington Fields Intermediate School.
In addition, the Board approved the selection of Terri Howell as the new principal of Hurricane Intermediate School. Her professional occupation spans more than two decades educating children. Terri started her career at Dixie High, teaching US History. She went on to earn her media endorsement and later received her Master in Education Administration. She worked as a teacher on special assignment and was then promoted to the position of Athletic Director and Assistant Principal both at Desert Hills High School. Terri is thrilled to be a part of Hurricane Intermediate and is excited for this new adventure.
These changes will take effect immediately, as Bob will continue with the District as a principal leader and mentor until he retires fully in October. Please join us in congratulating Bob, Brad and Terri in their new roles with the District.
