Physical Therapy

In a school setting, physical therapy (PT) services help students improve mobility, access, and physical functioning to support participation in their educational environment. School-based physical therapists work closely with educational teams to address areas such as posture, balance, strength, coordination, and safe movement throughout the school. This may include navigating hallways, using stairs, participating in physical education, or transitioning between classrooms. PT services are provided based on a student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) and/or 504 and are designed to support functional independence within the school setting—not for general rehabilitation. The goal is to ensure students can move safely and effectively to access learning opportunities alongside their peers.
