Vision

Vision services are designed to support students with visual impairments by ensuring they have equal access to the curriculum, classroom environment, and learning materials. Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs) and Orientation and Mobility (O&M) specialists work as part of the educational team to provide direct instruction in areas such as braille literacy, assistive technology, visual efficiency, and independent living skills. They also collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt materials, modify instruction, and create accessible learning environments. Additionally, O&M specialists help students develop safe navigation skills within the school and community. These services are individualized through the student’s IEP and/or 504 and are essential in fostering independence, confidence, and academic success for students with visual impairments.
