When a student is seen in the Emergency Room for a crisis evaluation due to suicide ideation, or discharging from inpatient behavioral health, parents/guardians have the option to provide their consent to notify the student’s School Counselor of the situation.  This provides an increase of support for the student, builds positive and supportive connections, and can create a bridge for the student when they return to school. Parents/guardians and the student will meet with the school counselor and a individualized plan (possibly with a safety plan) will be created so that additional support can be given in the school setting.
