National Glaucoma Awareness Month

Mini-Challenges-January 5, 2022:   (The deadline to complete challenges is January 31, 2022. )

  1. Read the “Make Eye Health a New Year’s Resolution” Flyer.
  2. Read the “Sneak Thief of Sight” Flyer.
  3. Watch the “Take Control” Video.
  4. Take the “Eye-Q Test-See How Much You Know About Glaucoma!”
  5. Schedule a comprehensive dilated eye exam with your Optometrist/Ophthalmologist. 
  6. Share on our WCSDWellness Facebook group your 2022 New Year’s Resolutions for your health and wellness journey.

Thyroid Awareness Month

Mini-Challenges-January 12, 2022: 

  1. Read the “Had It Up To Here with Not Feeling Like Yourself” Poster.
  2. Read the “Ten Questions to Ask About Your Thyroid Health” Flyer.
  3. Take the “Thyroid Awareness Neck Check” Flyer. 
  4. Schedule an appointment with your Primary Care Physician or Endocrinologist to check your thyroid. 
  5. During the week of January 17th-21st, be creative in showing support for thyroid Awareness Month using butterflies, paisley, or blue. 
  6. Share on our WCSD Wellness Facebook page pics of your support for Thyroid Awareness. Continue to share your goals and progress!

American Heart Month

Mini-Challenges -February 2, 2022:   (The deadline to complete challenges is February 28, 2022. )

  1. Watch the“Steal Your “ME TIME” Back From Stress”Video and do something this week to take time for yourself.
  2. Read the “Spot a Stroke F.A.S.T” Flyer
  3. On Friday, February 4, wear red to support “National Wear Red Day” for women’s heart health.
  4. Monday, February 7th-Monday February 14th-Show support for Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) and love by “Heart Attacking” someone’s door with pink, blue, and red hearts!
  5. Schedule a wellness check with your primary care physician or cardiologist if you are not seen regularly.
  6. Share on our WCSD Wellness Facebook page your support for “Women’s Heart Health” and “Congenital Heart Disease (CHD.”)
  7. Participate in 30 minutes of physical activity 3x per week.

 Mini-Challenges -February 9, 2022:

1. Read the “Answers By Heart” Patient Information Sheets to help you improve and maintain your health.
2“Spread the Love” by completing 5 of the 10 acts of kindness.-
3. Monday, February 14, is “National Donor Day” Read the “Why I Should Consider Being A Blood Donor” Flyer
4. You can mark this mini-challenge completed if you have donated blood or plasma within the past six months.
5. If you have “Organ Donor” on your driver’s license (Marked with a red heart or dot), mark this mini-challenge complete.
6. If you have a “Donate Life” license plate, mark this mini-challenge completed. 
7. Post pictures on our W.C.S.D. Wellness page and why you keep your heart healthy or things you have done to improve your heart health. #Ourhearts.

2. Play the “Kidney Bingo” game and have fun improving your kidney health!
4. Watch the “Manage Chronic Kidney Disease and Take Control of Your Health” Video.                                                          
5. Participate in at least 30 minutes of physical activity 3x per week.
6. Share on our W.C.S.D. Wellness Facebook page your “Kidney Bingo” progress. 

World Sleep Day

Mini-Challenges -March 2, 2022

1. Read the “Rules For Healthy Sleep” Flyer.      
2. Watch the “Effects of Sleep Deprivation” Video.  
3. Track your sleep for two weeks using a “Sleep Tracker.”
4. Add 30 minutes of sleep to your night or morning routine for one week.
5. Share on our W.C.S.D. Wellness Facebook page your experience and results of getting more sleep. 

 World Nutrition Month
2. Take and score the“Self Help” Quiz. (Found in the “Are You Struggling in Your Relationship with Food?” Newsletter.)   
3. Monitor your“Hunger-Satiety Scale” for one week. (Found in the “Are You Struggling in Your Relationship with Food?” Newsletter.)
4. Utilize the “Weekly Menu Planner”or one like it to monitor your food intake for one week. –
5. Try a new healthy recipe this week.
6. Share a healthy recipe with a coworker or friend this week.
7. Share your favorite healthy recipe this week on the WCSD Wellness Facebook page.

WHO AND WHEN TO REFER:

  • ANY patient with kidney disease.
  • ANY patient with an auto-immune disease
  • Blood in the urine.
  • Recurrent kidney stones.
  • Difficult to treat edema.
  • Persistent electrolyte abnormalities. DESPITE intervention
  • Acid-Base disturbances require assistance.
  • Vasculitis with renal manifestations.
  • Hereditary kidney disease
  • Hypertension refractory to treatment with 4+ antihypertensive agents
  • Urinary red cell casts are not explainable.
  • Progression of CKD.
  • Proteinuria/Albuminuria is independent of ANYY eGFR.
  • Albumin/Creatinine Ratio > 30 mg/g.
